Srigyan Atish Dipankar
Atish Dipankar, one of the best men of Buddhism, is the pride of Munshiganj. He was born in 972 in the village of Bajrayogini in Munshiganj Sadar upazila. At the age of 31, he moved to Sri Lanka and later became the Chancellor of Nalanda University. He crossed the Himalayas in 1041 and went to Tibet. Jagadish Chandra Basu
Jagadish Chandra Bose is another great man who enlightened Munshiganj. He was born in 1858. His father's name was Bhagwan Chandra Basu. His ancestral home is at Radhikhal village in Srinagar upazila. Jagadish Chandra Bose proved that like human beings, trees also have life. In 1915 he was knighted. In 1917 he established the Temple of Science.
Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das
One of the Bengalis who gained recognition as an all-India leader was Chittaranjan Das, the golden son of Munshiganj. The people of the Indian subcontinent have awarded him the title of 'Deshbandhu'. He was born in 1870 in the village of Telirbagh in Tongibari upazila. Chittaranjan Das is one of the few healthy-minded politicians in Bengal who has played a role in national development. He died on 16 June 1925.
Sarojini Naidu
Sarojini Naidu was the most popular and influential female leader in the Indian subcontinent. His ancestral home was at Konaksar village in Louhjong upazila of Munshiganj district. He was born on 13 February 189. Sarojini Naidu, an all-India politician and writer, was an influential leader and one-time president of the Congress. He was an eloquent and eminent English poet.
Satyen Sen.
Born 1908, died 1981. Sonarang village of Tongibari upazila is his ancestral home. Satyen Sen was simultaneously a politician, literary and cultural organizer. This progressive political figure has been imprisoned many times during the British and Pakistani rule. He is the founder of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, the largest cultural organization in Bangladesh.
Jiten Ghosh
Jiten Ghosh, a resident of Kumar Bhog village of Louhjong police station, was a pioneer in the anti-British movement. Chirkumar Jiten Ghosh has worked all his life for the liberation of peasants and hardworking people. He has been in jail for ages. He is the author of many books.
