Background of district administration

The East India Company acquired the civil rights of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa in 175 AD from Shah Alam II, King of Delhi. This civil can be termed as the first revenue administration. At that time Munshiganj was part of Dhaka district. In 189, Mr. Middleton began to manage the revenue independently. He leased the palaces in favor of the highest zamindari callers. Meanwhile, the leased zamindars started giving sub-leases again. Naturally, there is chaos in the revenue administration. The provincial council functioned from 17 to 181 AD. Munshiganj subdivision was created in 1947 under Dhaka Collectorate. Mr. KSH Chowdhury was the first SDO of EPCS Munshiganj. Mr. Chowdhury served as SDO from 22-06-1947 to 18-07-1949. Munshiganj district was declared in 1974. Earlier, the administrative work of the district was controlled from Dhaka. Mr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, the first Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj, served as the Deputy Commissioner of the district from 01-03-1984 to 19-08-1974.
