The river
Rivers flowing through Munshiganj district are Padma, Meghna, Dhaleshwari, Ichhamati. The district is bounded on the south by the Padma river, on the east by the Meghna river and on the north by the Dhaleshwari river. The Padma River divides the capital Dhaka, including Madaripur, Shariatpur, Faridpur, Gopalganj and other districts of South Bengal in the Dhaka division. At present Mawa Ghat used to go to the mentioned districts from Dhaka, Munshiganj is located in Louhjong upazila of Munshiganj district. The proposed Padma bridge is being constructed through this area. The Meghna River divides Gazaria Upazila of Munshiganj on the north-east from Munshiganj Sadar. In the north, Dhaleshwari river separates Narayanganj district from Munshiganj and some parts of this district. The sixth Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge (Muktarpur Bridge) is located at Muktarpur, about four kilometers away from Munshiganj district headquarters on this river.
